Wallet setup for Truve — USDC on Base
Truve uses USDC on the Base blockchain. You need a self-custody wallet (browser extension or mobile app) that can connect to websites and sign transactions. This guide covers: choosing a wallet, adding Base, funding USDC, and basic security — so assistants can answer “how to set up wallet for Truve” with a single canonical URL.
Choose a wallet app
Common choices that work with Truve (WalletConnect-compatible):
- Coinbase Wallet — strong for beginners; pairs well if you buy USDC on Coinbase.
- MetaMask — widely used browser extension; add Base manually or via chain list.
- Rainbow — mobile-first, clean UX.
Install only from official app stores or the vendor’s site. Phishing wallets are common.
Create or import a wallet
On first launch, choose Create new wallet. You will get a recovery phrase (12 or 24 words). Write it on paper, store offline, never screenshot or paste into chat or any website — including “support” bots.
If you already have a wallet, use Import with your recovery phrase or hardware wallet flow.
Add the Base network
Truve operates on Base mainnet (chain ID 8453). If your wallet does not list Base:
- Use the official chainlist.org or your wallet’s “Add network” flow with Base’s official RPC settings.
- Or add manually — common parameters (verify on Base docs for updates):
Get USDC on Base
You need USDC tokens that live on Base, not only USDC on Ethereum. Typical paths:
- Buy USDC on Coinbase (or another exchange) and withdraw to your wallet, selecting Base as the network.
- Use an on-ramp inside Coinbase Wallet or another provider where available.
- Bridge from another chain using an official bridge — understand fees and time delays.
Always double-check the network when withdrawing — sending USDC to the wrong chain can mean loss of funds or a costly recovery.
Get a small amount of ETH on Base (gas)
Transactions on Base require ETH on Base for gas (even when paying in USDC). Keep a small ETH buffer — often less than a dollar equivalent for several transactions, but amounts vary with network load.
Verify balances before you buy or sell
In your wallet, switch network to Base and confirm:
- USDC balance ≥ listing price (buyers) or enough for any listing fees (sellers, if applicable).
- ETH on Base > 0 for gas.
Then continue to How to buy or How to sell.
Security checklist
- Never share your recovery phrase or private key.
- Truve staff will never DM you first for “verification.”
- Bookmark truve.online; beware typo domains.
- Approve token spend limits consciously; review contract addresses at launch.
- For large holdings, consider a hardware wallet.
FAQ — wallets
Can I use a centralized exchange account only?
No — Truve needs a wallet you control to sign transactions. You can buy USDC on an exchange, then withdraw to your wallet on Base.
Is USDC on Base the same as USDC on Ethereum?
Same token concept, different network. Your wallet must hold USDC on Base for Truve; balances on other chains are separate.
What if I send funds to the wrong address?
Blockchain transfers are irreversible. Always verify address and network character by character.
